Green Festival @ LA Mart – 11AM-5PM, $10-32, All Ages

Gold Fever – Special Screening @ Art Theater of Long Beach – 12PM-2PM, Free, All Ages
Gold Fever witnesses the arrival of Goldcorp Inc to a remote Guatemalan village. Caught in the cross-hairs of a global frenzy for gold, Diodora, Crisanta and Gregoria resist the threat to their ancestral lands in the face of grave consequences. Winner of the Rigoberta Menchú Grand Prix at the 2013 Montreal First Peoples Festival, Gold Fever is a hard-hitting documentary about the destructive and exploitative impacts of transnational mining. We will be joining a global screening campaign. This movie is also being screened in cities across the UK, Spain, Germany, India, Australia, Canada and many more.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros present Big Top @ Los Angeles State Historic Park – $50 for 12PM Family Matinee, $60 for 8PM, $60, All Ages
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have dreamt up a modern day circus unlike any other. This October, the band will bring their vision to life and share a thoughtfully curated program of artists and performers with their community. Their goal is to create a uniquely interactive experience that will be enjoyed by all ages. A traditional circus tent set in the midst of Los Angeles State Historic Park will play host to performances in the round from October 17-20. Continuous entertainment and activities will transform a single location into distinct yet equally captivating environments by day and night. Guests will be encouraged to participate and make this shared vision a decidedly personal one. Our favorite, Las Cafeteras, performs at the 8pm evening show!

17th Annual Arab Film Festival @ Harmony Gold Theater – All Ages
The Arab Film Festival is the largest independent annual showcase of Arab films and filmmakers in the country. The festival has an international standing and is considered one of the most important Arab film festivals outside the Arab world. AFF strives to present the best contemporary films that provide insight into the beauty, complexity and diversity of the Arab world alongside realistic perspectives on Arab people, culture, art, history and politics.

Ethio Cali Plays Mulatu of Ethiopia Live @ Blue Whale, Little Tokyo – 8PM, $10, 21+
Todd M. Simon’s Ethio Cali invites you to the blue whale this Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 8pm to its performance of the entire 1972 classic ‘Mulatu of Ethiopia’ by iconic Ethio Jazz composer and musician Mulatu Astatke. The concert features saxophonist Justo Almario, one of the original musicians on the album as well as an introduction by musicologist/producer DJ Carlos Niño. The band features Todd M. Simon, Randal Fisher, Alan Mark Lightner on vibraphones, Damon Aaron, Patrick Bailey, Steve Haney, Te’Amir Yohannes Sweeney, Mark Cross, Dexter Story and is co-curated by Sonny Abegaze.

IT’S FINALLY HERE, OUR LAST PARTY of season 4! We have a super huge guest joining us to say goodbye: CUT CHEMIST (JURASSIC 5) !!! CUT’s been on our Bodega wish list for some time so we’re more than stoked to welcome him to the fiesta. In addition to our finale, we’re also celebrating Dj Melaaza’s birthday. We can’t wait to see everyone for the last time at Bodega until the next one in 2014!
