Summer is in high gear folks! Sooo many free outdoor concerts & activities all over LA from now until end of summer! Here are just some of the very many awesome events happening around LA! Here’s some can’t miss events: Subsuelo featuring Las Cafeteras on Wednesday, my Brasileiras DJ Potira spinning hot & heavy baile funk with dancing by Morena Baile-rina at Afro Funke’ on Thursday and Bombilla on Saturday. Also Saturday, my friends Buyepongo and Noble Creatures and over 28 bands are playing the 1st ever Venice Music Crawl and Beat Swap Meet returns to Chinatown both Saturday and Sunday. CicLAvia happens on Sunday and it’s the last week of LA Film Fest. Africa UMOJA is on a national tour and plays in LA at the Pantages for 4 nights only from Thursday to Sunday too! And speaking of free concerts, don’t miss Carmen Souza, La Santa Cecilia with the Boogaloo Assassins, Alex Cuba, Mr. Little Jeans and more!!! Check out the full schedule of summer goodness here:
This week’s list is always a work-in-progress (still many more events I have to post when I get back to the computer, as well as new ones I learn about as the week goes along!). So keep checking back! Do you have an LA hidden treasure or great cause people should know about? Let me know!
Have a great week, Angelenos…I’m on my way to the Brazilian and Turkish Consulates to join my friends in protesting the outrageous police brutality there against people demonstrating peacefully for better conditions and human rights. I’ll leave you with this song from Criolo translated as “Love Doesn’t Exist in São Paulo.” “There are so many people in this city, people who struggle a lot, people who are good and deserve our respect,” Criolo says. “So this song is a cry for the city of São Paulo to treat its citizens, better. That’s it.”
