3 Subsuelo Parties in April

What was once a monthly Subsuelo underground global bass party is now for the 1st time happening 3 times this month! The Subsuelo musicphiles have an eclectic palette for world music and a prodigious knack for breaking boundaries — blending all the flavors of cumbia, funk, moombahton, hip-hop, salsa and live flamenco all together into what the LA Times and LA Weekly have called LA’s best underground club!

Wednesday, April 10
In continuing to spread their wings with new collaborations and new venues, Subsuelo will be joining Dub Club, the weekly reggae music night at Echoplex, on Wednesday, April 10. Dub Club will be downstairs in Echoplex with DJs Boss Harmony, Tom Chasteen, and Roy Corduroy and MCs Jah Faith, Ras Benjy, Chicho, and special guests. Subsuelo will be upstairs in the Echo, featuring special guests Nortec Collective presents Bostich + Fussible and Buyepongo. 21+ and free before 10pm, $7 after. More info.

Wednesday, April 17
3rd Wednesdays, Subsuelo is at the smaller, intimate Eastside Luv Bar, where it all started. Representing DUTTY ARTZ (dj rupture’s record label), they will have global bassheads Chief Boima, Sierra Leonean-American musician, DJ, cultural activist, and writer, and Rafi El, plus a bunch of surprise guests and live performance by LA band Quita Penas, who recently had their new album release. 21+ and free before 9pm, $5 after. More info.

Friday, April 19
Subsuelo returns to the Bootleg Theatre for what they call The Global Bassment – a massive lineup of global bass crews from coast to coast: Jeremy Sole (KCRW/TheLift/AfroFunke), Paul Devro and Benzona (Mad Decent), Orion and Sonora (Peligrosa), Atropolis and Thornato (Cumba Mela), Brooklyn Shanti and Matt Shadetek (Dutty Artz), Oro 11 (Tormenta Tropical / Bersa Discos) and Gnotes (Gnawledge). Plus the 10-member band Afrolicious from San Francisco, which evolved from the famous weekly parties there, will be playing live to celebrate their record release. The last time Subsuelo rocked the house here was a Grammy party with Mad Decent that ABC/Univision raved about. This one is not to be missed either! Limited $10 presale tickets available and $15 at the door. More info.

As usual at each Subsuelo, host Gazoo, DJs Canyon Cody, Gozar, Ethos, rapper Gnotes, photographer Farah Sosa, and flamenco performers La Tigresa, Gabriel Osuna and Gerardo Morales will be heating up the dance floor and entertaining the crowd before the main acts.
