From NYC to Barcelona to LA: Nickodemus release party at Subsuelo March 8!

subsuelo nickOne week from tonight, on Friday, March 8, the latest edition of Subsuelo, LA’s best underground club, is featuring the one and only Nickodemus! Traveling around the world to DJ since he was 18, Nickodemus put global bass on the dance scene map with his long-running Turntables on the Hudson parties in NYC. Now Nickodemus has chosen LA to release his new album, Turntables on the Ramblas, inspired by his exploration of the music and dance culture in Barcelona, Spain.

Peep a listen to one of the album’s remixes:

Nickodemus could not have picked a better place than Subsuelo, where everyone is a part of the global cultural party and music and dance knows no boundaries. Hosted by Gazoo, scratch by Ethos, visuals by Juxli, photos by Farah Sosa, and your trusty DJ stewards El Canyonazo + Gozar, plus live performance from the Subsuelo flamenco crew Gerardo Morales, Gabriel Osuna y La Tigresa — KCRW‘s Jason Bentley just debuted the 1st song, El Viejo Boombap, from their upcoming Kumpania album due to be released on May 15, the 2nd anniversary of Subsuelo. You can download it free while it lasts here. Here’s great footage from the last Subsuelo shot by Paulo von Borries:

And that’s not all! LA’s Kid Gusto will be performing original on-the-fly remashes, Coleman, talented photogragher, selector and director from LA’s legendary Mochilla crew will grace us with his presence, and visual artist Amir Magal (based in Los Angeles via Israel and Costa Rica) will adorn the party people with his Tribal Body Marking, with symbols are inspired by Hebrew, Arabic, Sanscrit and other ancient cultures.

Subsuelo didn’t become LA’s best kept secret (no longer) by not evolving and stretching their wings, so this special Friday edition is going down at a beautiful, spacious new venue, Kobos (formerly 333 Live) located downtown, near 3rd St. and the 110 freeway. This is a BIG venue with a beautiful balcony, comfy couches and beautiful touches around every corner. Dance til you can’t stand, then find yourself a comfy couch to kick-it. There are a limited number of $10 presale tickets so get yours now! Info here.
